AMSCO® offers new products in 2024!

AMSCO® Wear Products has big news! In 2023, AMSCO® acquired Global Partners Alliance, LLC, becoming the U.S.’s exclusive distributor of Stahlwerke Bochum GmbH (SWB) hammers! Also, in 2023, through acquiring the intellectual property from Columbia Steel for Columbia Chain and Rigging™, AMSCO® is now helping to fill the void left by the closing of Columbia Steel.

About SWB and Global Partners Alliance

AMSCO®, a leader in the wear-resistant steel industry, acquired Global Partners Alliance, LLC, and began a new partnership with Stahlwerke Bochum GmbH (SWB) in Bochum, Germany. Global supplied high-quality wear parts to scrap metal recycling industries. With this acquisition, AMSCO®, a Lawton Standard company, will also become the new exclusive North American sales agent for SWB’s hammers, alloy anvils, and other shredder parts, adding them to AMSCO®‘s extensive offerings. The deferentially heat-treated alloy hammers are a benchmark of the metal recycling industry.

“Having been with AMSCO® for 20 years, we’ve always been committed to offering our customers the best wear-resistant castings for metals recycling, surface mining, and waste-to-energy industries. When the opportunity to purchase Global and partner directly with Stahlwerke Bochum GmbH came up, we were eager to work together. Knowing they had a great product and seeing how our values aligned, it was an easy decision to acquire Global and work with SWB directly,” said Sharon Morris, Vice President of AMSCO®.

About Global Partners Alliance

Global Partners was established in 2002 by Patrick Comparin and Valerie Horvat. They boasted over 90 years of experience in the foundry and scrap metal recycling industries. Global Partners identified and partnered with the best alloy and manganese foundries. Since inception, they sourced castings from the same few foundries.

About SWB

Stahlwerke Bochum GmbH (SWB) specializes in developing and manufacturing highly wear-resistant components for scrap recycling, crushing, and mineral processing. Their differentially heat-treated (DHT) hammers offer greater reliability, increased wear life, and reduced maintenance. Customers benefit from SWB’s long-term experience in optimal hammer design for shredding.

About Columbia Steel Intellectual Property

AMSCO® successfully acquired exclusive intellectual property rights from Columbia Steel Cast Products, LLC*, a provider of wear-resistant castings, serving aggregate producers, hard rock mining, and dragline mining operations.

AMSCO® now has exclusive access to valuable assets, including assembly drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, 3-D solid models, and simulations. AMSCO® has also obtained licensing rights for metallurgical information, encompassing chemistries, heat treatment procedures, and specialized manufacturing techniques such as weld overlay and machining operations.

“With AMSCO®‘s decades-long experience with world-class manufacturing partners, we can now supply more customers’ dragline needs in the same superior dimensional and metallurgical quality they have been accustomed to receiving from Columbia Steel. This, combined with core principles based on customer service and quality design and products, AMSCO® is confident that we will fulfill the industry’s dragline wear-parts needs,” said Armond Groves, VP of Sales and Engineering at AMSCO®.

About Columbia Steel

Columbia Steel dates to 1901, when machinery and spare parts for industry had to be brought in by ship from San Francisco or rail from the East. These distances and delivery times inspired a group of business people to form Columbia Engineering Works, which later became Columbia Steel Casting Co., Inc. Then, in January 2023, Columbia Steel Casting Co., Inc. agreed with the CMS Cepcor Group to sell key commercial and technical assets. CMS Cepcor Group incorporated a new company, “Columbia Steel Cast Products LLC,” which trades independently as “Columbia Steel.”
